about

Also known as my "Colors Song", I wrote this song ages ago as a student at Berklee College of Music. I was sitting between the lockers and I started to dream up this story of this sad kid and all the colors... The chorus came out of my own pain at my parents' divorce a few years earlier. Ironically, Ralph and I recorded this song as a student project for a class we were both in before we were even friends! Now- Years later after a dozen years of marriage we recorded it again for this album- and Ralph allowed a friend of his to play on it, Jeremy, because he was assisting him on the engineering of the project and Jeremy liked this one the most!

lyrics

Where Is The Boy
Words & music by Julie Kinscheck c.1986

VERSE: In a blue world, full of blue jeans, under blue skies There’s a blue car with a blown tire, on a country road
In a green field where the grass blows there’s a green boy He tries to fix his blue car and his broken dreams
But tell me where can he go?

CHORUS: ‘Cause Mom and Dad are fighting - And they don’t see he’s crying The Fire strikes like lightning - And they don’t see he’s dying
They don’t see he’s dying

VERSE: Now the green boy takes his blue car to the grey town He meets a red lady in a black dress he mistakes for white
He buys a cool drink she lays a hot glance on his blue eyes
She lays a crimson kiss on his pale cheek
Takes him home for the night

CHORUS: ‘Cause Mom and Dad are fighting - And they don’t see he’s crying The Fire strikes like lightning - And they don’t see he’s dying
They don’t see he’s - They don’t see they don’t see they don’t see he’s dying They don’t see he’s dying

BRIDGE: He never got the confidence Had no examples of good sense
They always told him “Go out and play” Now tell where is the boy today?
Where is the boy?

VERSE: In a grey jail, far from green fields is a blue boy He robbed a white store for some green bills, he was so alone He needed COLD CASH TO PAY FOR THE LOVE
HE NEVER FOUND AT HOME!

CHORUS: ‘Cause Mom and Dad are fighting - And they don’t see he’s crying The Fire strikes like lightning - And they don’t see he’s dying
They don’t see he’s - They don’t see they don’t see they don’t see he’s dying They don’t see he’s dying
Where is the Boy? Where is the Boy? Where is the Boy? Where is the Boy? Where is the Boy?
